CAMPAIGN FOR RECYCLING IN LAUNCESTON
LAUNCESTON IS AN ISLAND WITHIN AN ISLAND,
WHEN IT COMES TO RECYCLING.

THE LAUNCESTON CITY COUNCIL REFUSES
TO PROVIDE A BASIC AND ESSENTIAL SERVICE
FOR IT'S CITIZENS.

THE SUPPORT FROM THE TASMANIAN
AND AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENTS IS ALSO ABSENT.

WHY?

MOST PLACES IN TASMANIA,AUSTRALIA
or even the rest of the WORLD can recycle these plastic bottles

but in LAUNCESTON,it is extremely hard with very limitted facilities.

WHY?

CLEAN UP LAUNCESTON IS TRYING TO DO WHAT GOVERNMENT HAS REFUSED TO DO.
CLEAN UP LAUNCESTON IS SEEKING CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP FOR IT'S RECYCLING PROJECT.

Launceston recycling activist and unpaid volunteer Terence Seymour seeks to address the lack of recycling opportunities for the citizens of Launceston.

Repeated requests for the LAUNCESTON CITY COUNCIL, the TASMANIAN GOVERNMENT and the AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT to address the LAUNCESTON RECYCLING CRISIS have fallen on deaf ears.

Launceston City Council are amenable to a development application being lodged for community drop off centres,as long as in the right zones, but are not able to provide a site on Council land or give advice on possible private land.

Mr Terence Seymour has the capacity to service a recycling drop off centre for plastic and metal, but has no land to site the centre on.

Mr Seymour previously operated a recycling centre on council land, following the closure of a comprehensive public place recycling network, which had serviced the city for over 20 years.

Launceston has a recycling collector (COLLEX) in the city, but this company does not allow the public to access it's operation.

Other areas of Tasmania and Australia are well served with recycling opportunities for householders and the general public, but Launceston is very much an island within an island for it's lack of recycling opportunities.

Mr Seymour is seeking sponsors for its recycling project,so that appropriately zoned land could be leased/purchased and the necessary infrastructure be acquired for the operation of a recycling station.

Mr Seymour hopes also that other recycling action groups might be able to offer advice on how best to go about setting up or persuading authorities to support the project.
