SITE LOCATION: ROELF VOS ROADWAY from rear boundary to HOBART ROAD
The site split into halves the first took 30 minutes and finished at the sealed hotel car park,the second 20 minutes.
The level of litter increased at the mid point.
The survey took in the stretch across Cooleys land to the rivulet.
about 10 minutes of non collecting time was spent photographing and studying the nature of the litter underneath the shrubbery at the right hand corner of the hotel car park.
It was felt that in this section the main items collected were crown lager bottles obviously from 1 drinking group,other soft drink bottlew,cigarette packs and cigarette butts.
The 2nd half was cleaner,the shrubbery was thicker,litter is being trapped in foliage not concealed underneath.
OTHER COMMENTS
The survey was conducted by 1 person on a day with a slight breeze this prevented a more detailed analysis of the other material collected,which included paper bags from fish and chip shops,takeaway food stores,cling wrap etc.
There was a danger that material would blow away again as litter while doing a careful study of the litter.
Ideally the survey should be done with a helper to watch out for material escaping and to call out numbers of particular items.
Future Surveys will be conducted.
