A hard bounce, is a member whose email is bouncing (returning) e-mail with a code such as "user unknown" or "account closed".. Hard bounces generally mean that the user (member) no longer has that e-mail address A soft bounce (on the other hand), is a member whose email is bouncing (returning) e-mail with a code such as "mailbox full" or "drive full".. Soft bounces generally mean that the user needs to empty his/her e-mail box, or the e-mail service the user is using needs to get more space for e-mail... Soft bounce usually are recoverable (the member can usually return to the list using that same e-mail address, once they get the problem fixed)
