The Gasworks Distillery in Hobart , trading as

the Tasmanian Distillery welcomes visitors to its Whisky Museum.

The international success of the distillery is due to the quality

of the Franklin barley strain, bred in Tasmania, 

and the Tasmanian spring water which is among the purest in the world

Almost all of the whiskey is exported,

ensuring this new industry continues to be worth $20 million

A Community Environment Park is being sought for Hobart

It was one of four proposals for the Beaumaris Zoo site

,the home of the last known Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine

Meanwhile public consultation continues for future uses of the site

which might include  a sculpture park, ensuring the site continues to be

 an important part of Tasmania's cultural life.

Mures Fish House a Tasmanian  icon

 opened 1973 in Battery Point, Hobart,

by George and William Mure.

In 1986 the family built Mures Fish Centre,

/their restaurant complex at Victoria Dock.

Their daughter Sarah has now succeeded Jill in the kitchen at Mures.

An integral part of this business was a modern fish factory and smokehouse.

The Kiella is the Mures' current fishing operated by their son, William.
