200 years of European occupation,and still a long way to go
 before achieving "reconciliation"
with the island's original owners.
 
If this year is to be a success,each of us must work
to a fuller understanding of the shared histories.

A simple of act of conciliation could be to see  the Tasmanian  and local governments increase their efforts to rename localities and landmarks  with their traditional Indigenous names. Some information on Aboriginal nomenclature.
