Tasmania's fossil sites reveal some of the richest examples of a variety of ancient plants that existed here up to 55 million years ago. In May 2001 11 more fossil flora sites were entered into the interim list of the register of the National Estate. The new entries Browns Bluff (Tamar River),Marionoak,Cethana,Hasties,Lea River,Locharbour,Monpeelyata,Little Rapid River,Coal Head,Mersey Cathedral and Wilsons Creek.
