A time capsule of Australian colonial history close to Launceston!

The first Thomas Archer, settled the property in 1816.

For six generations the estate has been lived in by the Archers who were known to never sell their possesions

In 1912,Woolmers Owner Tom Archer(the fifth) bought a new 16 - horsepower, black ducoed Wolseley 4 cylinder tourer and then set off for a honeymoon tour around Tasmania.

This car still with it,s original tyres will be on display
during the Woolmers Great Day Out on December 1 to coincide the anniversary of the property being settled.

It is interesting to note that the Woolmers estate has still got spare sets of tyres for the Wolseley that were purchased
at the same time as the car.

THE WORKING FARM

Woolmers Estate is home to Australia's oldest shearing shed dating from the 1820s and 14 other buildings associated with daily farm work.

Demonstrating their skills at Woolmers Great Day Out will be
shingle splitters, pit sawyers and blade shearers.

Of great interest to the visitor to Woolmers is the 8m boat the family used to go shopping in Longford during flood perions.
